Marmaris, Turkey. Where the two seas merge …
A couple of years ago, the Canaries were the dream of any domestic tourist. After the crisis, for many, these islands have remained a dream. But as it turned out, all is not lost. And now it is safe to say that a worthy replacement was found. This is the resort of Marmaris in Turkey, located at the junction of the Mediterranean and Aegean seas. For the time being, for our compatriots, this is a kind of exotic, and many still remain adherents of Antalya.
But, having only been in Marmaris, you understand how wrong those who year after year fry their bodies under the scorching Antalya sun. So, three hours of flight to Dalaman airport (by the way, and almost seven minutes to Canar), another hour and a half along the scenic road that runs among the mountains and valleys surrounded by centuries-old eucalyptus trees (smell!). But before you get into Marmaris itself, we will stop for a moment on the shore of the mysterious Gyukov Bay, which is considered almost the longest in the world.
By the way, the same opinion was shared by the pirates hiding there from those whom they had deprived of money and treasure. This is almost the only place in Turkey where diving is forbidden, because at the bottom of the bay there are a lot of sunken ships where this little goldfish are on. Driving along the embankment of Marmaris, this little town, whose population increases 10 times in a season, I remembered Santa Barbara, where I happened to be this winter. For several kilometers lined up the next chain – a restaurant, hotel, disco, souvenir shop, restaurant. And so to Ichmeler himself, which used to be only a fishing village, and now it is a resort area, where there are more hotels than private houses.
And the difference in which hotel you stayed, there is practically no (except that the sizes of the pools differ). The fact is that the comparison with the Canaries, which we mentioned at the beginning, is not accidental. The sandy beach is separated from all the hotels by the embankment, where life is in full swing at night (there are as many people as on the top crust on weekends). In any hotel you can go in the evening from the embankment, drink fine wine “Kavaklidere” and listen to live music. Those traditional hotel entertainment (the so-called animation), as, for example, in Antalya, are practically absent here. As there are no dancers from Ukraine and phonogram singers from domestic regions.
Here everything is fair, and everywhere, without exception, they sing live. Since we started to compare Marmaris with Antalya, we will go further. In Antalya, all hotels are located far from cities and towns, therefore, as a rule, you have to spend all your time on the hotel’s territory, since there’s no place to go. Here, hotels are located in the very center of a party that does not subside even for the night – shops, restaurants (there are hundreds of them for every taste and budget, but more on that later), discos, bars. Yes, there is where to have fun and eat delicious. Marmaris is a very high-class European resort.
Again, unlike Antalya, where everyone speaks only German, and the price tags are in the DM, even the children speak English well, the prices are in pounds and dollars respectively, and for some change office the signatures proudly flaunt: “We change even the Scottish and Irish pounds. ” All announcements, signs and menus are also in English. In Russian, there is nothing yet, but it is almost useless, our fellow citizens are hardly to be found here. The main contingent of tourists is the British, the Dutch, the Italians, the Serbs, the Poles and … the Israelis (isn’t it enough for their sun?).
Also a lot of tourists from faraway Australia. But during the week of stay in Marmaris, I never had a chance to hear the German speech. This contingent says a lot, so the entire infrastructure of the resort city is tailored to the inhabitants of Central Europe. In short, it is a holiday for those who are committed to an active lifestyle. In the bars of the “English type” are modest TVs.
Tourists are going to drink beer there and watch another football match (live from England). The food here is excellent. During the day, for only $ 10–12, you can eat so delicious (from the belly) that you don’t want to go for dinner at the hotel. Even Chinese and Indian restaurants are almost 10 times cheaper than in Kiev. And for pizza lovers, there is just plenty here: more than 20 kinds, and real Italians work in pizzerias. Seafood is not cheap, but worth a try. Especially a swordfish and, if lucky, a fish tongue. Let’s return to the comparisons. What is necessary for health is first of all the climate.
Marmaris is the very thing that you have been looking for. When in Antalya the temperature in July-August exceeds 40 ° C, then it is no higher than 35 ° C. Less humidity, healthy coniferous-air. By the way, the sea here is slightly colder than in eastern Turkey, and the water is less salty.
If you suddenly decide to go to Marmaris, then on the way back do not forget to buy the main souvenir of the resort – coniferous (pine) honey. This you will not find in any country in the world. It is said that nature did not invent anything more useful. One of the exciting topics for the domestic tourist is excursions.
