Holidays in Turkey in winter
For many Russians who are accustomed to the summer role of Turkey as an “all-union health resort,” the phrase “vacation in Turkey in winter” may sound somewhat strange. Nevertheless, soon, apparently, we will get used to this image of one of the most popular summer holiday destinations. We offer you to prepare for this event.
There are countries that are particularly fortunate, and the tourist season there lasts all year round. As a rule, they can offer their guests a beach holiday, winter sports activities, and a rich excursion program. Previously, Turkey did not belong to such countries: in the mid-90s, for Russians, it was a market for cheap goods, then becoming the foreign equivalent of Sochi. But soon everything will change: recently the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, Attila Koch, said that the country is going to reorient its tourist base to a year-round regime.
In Russia and Ukraine, about 25% of holidaymakers choose this particular direction. Egypt is in second place with 10%, Spain is in third. 2005 data. Today, Turkey occupies the 7th place in the structure of world tourism. Will she manage to climb a step higher?
In the near future about 50 new hotels and congress centers are planned to be built in Turkey. According to experts, this “will allow to solve some regional problems of the country, as well as harmonize the loading of hotels.” By the way, Attila Koch has repeatedly stressed that there are areas in the country in which it is possible to develop tourism potential. However, while the construction is planned only on existing resorts, i.e. first of all will develop “summer” Turkey.
But there is also such a thing as “alpine skiing” Turkey, which, in all likelihood, is intended to provide the country with “year-round” status. For many Russians, lovers of Turkish beach holidays, it can be a mystery what to do there in winter. This question is answered by the marketing director of the company DETUR Marat Dzhappuev: “Winter Turkey is, of course, ski resorts, a game of golf, and, which is important to know, the best time for excursions. In summer, however, not all historical excursions are fun: too hot But when the heat subsides, there is no better time. As for golf, there are 5 professional golf clubs in Belek. Turkey’s ski resorts have been known to Russian tourists for a long time. ie the number of groomed trails that meet the requirements of both professional skiers and beginners. And, of course, visa-free regime. ”
It should be thought that Turkey has chances of becoming a country of full-fledged year-round tourism. Can we say that this would mean approximately equal flows of tourists in both summer and winter? And how can a year-round Turkey look like if viewed from the point of view of tourist activity?
“It’s impossible to say that the number of tourists who come to the country in winter can be equal or at least come close to the number that visits the country in summer,” Marat Dzhapuev believes. “Although Turkey has all the conditions to be complete least year-round resort: there are mountains and beaches, and historical monuments. But the country is surrounded on three sides by the seas, and beach holidays will always play a major role in the local tourism industry. At the same time, people who are interested in Turkey in the winter, it’s getting bigger More and more – our company, for example, has been selling “Alpine skiing Turkey” for 9 years already. This year we are planning to double the number of tourists. ”
This is not the first experience in the world tourist practice of transferring a country from the category of “one-season” to “year-round”. A few years ago, such an experiment, and very successful, was undertaken by Egypt, which conducted an aggressive advertising campaign. Perhaps, we should expect active advertising in Turkey, covered with snow, with dashing skiers, invitingly waving their mittens from posters.
